While riding around with my son an interesting topic came up, and as usual he got me really thinking. We were not truly having a discussion, but I was listening to his current issue of the day regarding his relationship with his girlfriend. Ever since it has really been on my mind. It has brought up a few questions of my own.
Do you LOVE yourself?
Sure you won't find very many people that will admit that they don't love themselves, but it's about showing that you love yourself. A person shows that they love themselves in the way they speak about themselves and others, what they wear, body language (how they carry themselves), and how they treat others.
Can you truly love another person if you don't even love yourself?
In my opinion, it is impossible to love another person without first loving yourself. If you don't love yourself then you are going to continually have issues in whatever relationship you are in based mainly on your insecurities with yourself. We live in a world where everyone believes this or that will make us feel better about who we are (including other people). It is sad to me how many people get into relationships more because they can't handle being alone then it is for their desire to find love. I have known a few women throughout my life that jump from one relationship to another, but as soon as they are in that new relationship they change based upon what they believe that other person wants. I am not talking about the gradual changes that every human being makes, or the compromises of a relationship that exist to assist two unique people in being together. This kind of change is very dramatic...one day 100% against this but today with him 100% for it. It is the kind of changing that stops you from having your own opinions and views because you take on your boy/girlfriends views, it stops you from doing the very things that you once loved just because they don't share your love for it, but worse of all it never allows you to truly find a way to love yourself.
Until you have found who you are and love yourself your only going to experience difficulty in any relationship. Take a moment to decide what really makes you happy, and find your self so that your soul mate can find you.
